Save Power to EmPower

Finally, I can claim that I have directed something. This "something" is an advertisement on energy conservation for an intra-college competition at IIM Lucknow. Whats more interesting is that this advertisement was adjudged the best ad in the competition. Take a look here. I was lucky to have a wonderful team of four other people. All the actors were spontaneous and did very well [given the fact that they were facing the camera for the first time]. After having brain-stormed and discussed all the global issues that we initially wanted to highlight, we decided to stick to a simple subject: Saving Power. We have attempted to bring this message out by highlighting two contrasting situations using juxtaposition. And, I personally believe that, we have a great slogan towards the end. We begged a nursery owner to permit us to shoot at his nursery.... we borrowed a batchmate's camera... but we did not steal anything!!! All in all, we spent Rs 100 and an entire week's effort [including pre-production, shooting and post-production] to make this video. There are some goofs in the video, but I hope that screenplay and acting make up for it!!!

Cubicle Talkies

Its been close to two years since I posted something here. Apparently, it is not that I have stopped watching movies, or I no longer have the patience to write analyses. It is just that, I, Karthick and Harish decided to do the analysis together [My micro-economics text says that for a consumer "more is better than less"]. So, we started posting our thoughts together at Cubicle Talkies. Our most popular post till date has been the one on Inception. However, my personal favorite has been Akahige. Do take a look... I hope you like it.
